Vinemeet West is the Best - Get Here, We'll do the Rest.

This is the lodge - right on the lake

advertisement

The dates:

September 7, 8, 9 (I'm booking the lodge from the 6th on for early birds)

The Place: Fawnskin, California

The den of iniquity Lodge:

Lakefront Beauty - Lakefront with dock, hot tub, and beautiful views of the lake, forest and ski slopes! Three bedroom, two bath, gas fireplace, deck with a gas barbecue, cable TVs, VCR, DVD players, washer/dryer, and full kitchen with stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, and pots/pans. Fenced yard. Lakefront Fawnskin beauty! Walk to the marina for boat rentals, shops, and restaurants. Short drive to the slopes and golf.

Master bedroom has a king bed, cable TV, DVD, private bath, and deck.

Bedroom two has a queen bed.

Bedroom three has a king and a double bed.

Living room has a futon bed.

This place is only $1095 for four days. All we need is ten people (should be no problem) and that's only 110 bucks each!!!! I'll be sure to start stocking up on alcohol and barbequeables well in advance.

The time has come to show the world how we party West Coast style....and not that soggy, suicide-capital-of-America, latte-drinking poofter partying they do in Seattle! I'm talking square between L.A. and Vegas, top-of-a-freakin'-mountain, all-bets-are-off, professional partying here! Let's achieve greatness!

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

If someone is coming from the SF area that could give me a ride, I'm in. I can't leave my family without a car for the weekend. Or, alternatively, if there were mass transit close by.

Greyhound goes to San Bernardino and I'm sure I'll be driving down the hill on airport runs anyway so I could pick you up. If someone is coming from the north (perhaps a scientist), there is also a viner in San Luis Obispo looking for a ride.

San Bernardino is a rather small airport. Try Ontario International. Kymlee has also volunteered to pick people up from Long Beach and John Wayne is somewhere between the two so either one of us could pick you up from there. But try Ontario first.

Okay but the fare I am getting is for arrive the 5th, depart the 10th from Ontario. Where does that leave me? Does the lodge have rooms? Can we share rooms? A small bottle of Drambuie will do, I have almost quit drinking. BUT, large lobster tails would be nice. Are my arrival and departures wrong? What days do you recommend?

You'll arrive the day before the lodge is booked, but we can work that out.

    Does the lodge have rooms?

    Yes. See description in article.

    Can we share rooms?

At this rate, we'll have to. We can draw straws to see who shares a room with winsome. I don't sleep well with chicken heads in my bed.

Drambuie it is. This is the West Coast and our lobsters look like East Coast crawdads, but I'll see what I can do.

I live relatively nearby, and would be happy to provide some airport shuttle service whenever. San Bernardino is what's left of the Norton Air Force Base, miles of concrete and a nice view of the mountains, but Ontario is the airport of choice. Walt, give me a call if there's a need for front money.

OK, everybody! It'll take $550 to reserve the lodge and the balance by August 15. I guess it would be easiest to do this via paypal. How should we go about this? I'm sure there will be people who decide to go well after everyone else has paid their share. Plus, the more people show up, the less everyone's share comes to. In other words, there could be a surplus of money. Should this be applied to food, booze, boats, supples etc,... just reimburse everyone....use it to fly Viki out (heh)....give it to charity? Any other ideas?

Let's stick with the $100 for now. The sooner we pay in full, the less it will cost. How about the people who pay first get dibs on actual beds as opposed to sofa-beds, futons, inflatables, the porch, tents, coyote dens...?

I am working on a personal itinerary right now. As soon as I get all the answers I will either commit or decline. I am trying to make connections to visit Seattle as I fly out and back. I am also trying to keep my costs as low as possible. So far it looks good. Less than $450 for Lodge and air tickets. Food can take care of itself but I have to find out what my Seattle costs might be before I commit. I also checked out arriving at LAX on 6th and that is doable. Still having trouble with that Ontario airport. Strangely I will get a short lay over in LV and NC.

I also checked out arriving at LAX on 6th and that is doable.

LAX is acceptable. There are a couple of vinemeeters in the general area and I'll drive down if I have to. I think Myk is flying back out of LAX.

        Sorry. Stand by.

        Here's my address:

        walter dziedzic
        po box 217
        fawnskin, CA 92333
        United States

I'm not being secretive; I live in the sticks (you'll see) and we don't get mail delivery. Is this enough information? I'm kind of a clod when it comes to these things.

Oh...and could everyone who is planning on attending email me so I can make an address book of partygoers (I only need email addresses). It'll make things much easier for me and save you having to constantly check my column for updates. BTW, I would MUCH rather do this by paypal so let me know if you have trouble. The thought of being responsible for a fistful of hardcopy checks makes me uneasy...I might get them mixed up with business checks and ...voila!...you just bought an ad in one of my publications (my office is a freakin' shambles).

Man... this looks like an awesome meet-up. I hope they keep improving like this, so that by the time I'm old enough to go, and my Newsvine earnings can pay for it, I'll be there with the rest of you.

Have a good time, without me. :)

For those of you thinking about flying into the LA area, I would prefer you try to fly into the LB Airport if I am going to be shuttling people - you might prefer it as well. Its super small and super easy: no traffic and no huge terminal to trek through. Of course if there are no flights into LB, then I'll pick people up from LAX or John Wayne (and I really don't want to go there either)...I will not be driving to Ontario though (an hour in the opposite direction), so try to get a little closer...Unless of course someone out that way is coming and can offer rides.

Just want to keep it real with you guys/gals. Long Beach and LAX are the best options for me to pick people up...Think about it, research it and let me know what your plan is.

You should swim. It's good for you and will work up an appetite. Also don't forget to pack your running shoes for the cross country jog to San Francisco.
